Hello there! how is it going? i got a couple of questions hoping you could answer some... 1) how many people are working in this wiki? 2) do you get information about who's the next champion, at least the name? (i'm a spoiler hunter, but i know how to keep secrets) 3) it will be cool a giveaway on an founder pack, even if is the basic founders pack, because i want one haha is it possible? 4) i know it might take a lot, but it could be awesome to make this wiki like they did with the IC page, like a 2.0 now it's blue :D

just that, thank you for your time.

  1. Not many :) .. me, you and Malvodion mostly
  2. I don't get any advance information
  3. I don't know if we have any giveaways, but you can try leaving a message on Community manager's talk page
  4. I can look into updating the wiki skin (that's what we call the overall colour scheme/style
Thanks for all your hard work and i'll be in touch — Game widow (talk) 16:44, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
Sorry to jump into your conversation but: (if you do end up editing the wiki's skin) I think that a simple color swamp (and maybe a new background) would be enough. They changed their color scheme from red to blue.--Malvodion (talk) 17:07, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
Since you two are the main contributors, why don't you decide between yourselves and i'll see if i can make it happen ... if it doesn't require javascript, it should be no problem. I only made this skin when the game was first announced and there wasn't much to go on at the time. I have grabbed the smoky dark blue general bg image, their "tech-grunge" dividing line graphic and the transparent hex-grid — Game widow (talk) 18:09, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
Well, as I've said before, I think the wiki looks fantastic (only "problem" I saw was that the buttons on the top were a bit hard to read because of the dark red and black letters). A simple color swap for everything would be enough. (And the soft blue tone would also solve the "problem" with the buttons.). If you go for it, I want to help with this. I don't know to modify wiki skins, but I do know we'll need up to date images for the buttons (or simply recoloring the red grid image myself) and the background.--Malvodion (talk) 13:08, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
Just wanted to say: WOW. You are doing an marvelous job. It's looking great :D . Thank you for dedicating some of your time to improve this wiki.--Malvodion (talk) 15:39, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks :) sorry that it's so "trial and error" — Game widow (talk) 15:40, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
I didn't do anything, this was all Game Widow's.
I love how it looks but for one thing: The visited links on the left side of the screen are displayed as dark blue and it's impossible to read what they say. Apart from that , excelent work.--Malvodion (talk) 00:09, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
I just noticed something (I use an adblock): The ads push the champion infoboxes to the side, and the infobox pushes everything else with it. Is it possible to make it so that the ads show up above it/the infobox goes bellow it? Something like what we've got at the Smite Wiki [1].--Malvodion (talk) 00:18, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
ok, i think i've fixed the visited links issue on the sidebar and possibly the infobox position. let me know — Game widow (talk) 02:47, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
Everything is working correctly. Again, thanks a lot. :) --Malvodion (talk) 03:54, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

Here a dumb question! those "signatures" shwon after your posts( i.e --Malvodion (talk) 03:54, 24 February 2014 (UTC)) when i post, it appears too? or do iave to enable something or what?

If you go to Preferences, there's a field for your signature, if you want yours to look like mine just put the following code: — [[User:Malvodion|Malvodion]] <small>([[User_talk:Malvodion|talk]])</small>, in there and click the "Treat signature as wikitext " box below — Game widow (talk) 02:10, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

You are Amazing, thanks :D

About the new Skin[edit source]

Sorry to bother you but, I just noticed there is something left to change: seems like the sortable collumns (which are used in pages like Skills.) have no format.

On a different note: the game is getting 3 new characters on March, and it'll officially go out of closed beta, so (hopefully) there'll be more activity on the wiki.--Malvodion (talk) 20:36, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

Well spotted, i'll fix the column headers ;) and yeah, i saw the announcement for beta, so fingers crossed — Game widow (talk) 20:38, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
For now, the sorting works (although the arrows are not visible) and the gradient background is back. To really fix this, i may have to change the header to use a background image rather than a colour gradient. For now, i'll keep digging. — Game widow (talk) 21:06, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

Need help with latest champion[edit source]

Sorry to bother you but I need some help: The new champion (Blue Beetle) has the ability to transform from a ranged Marksman to a melee assassin, with separate abilities for each stance. The current templates only support one role and 4 abilities plus the passive. Is it possible to rework them so that they can display more?--Malvodion (talk) 21:57, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

I'll see what i can do, is there any way you could make some sort of mockup image to give me an idea of what you'd like to see? — Game widow (talk) 22:11, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Sure. I'll post it here as soon as I finish it.--Malvodion (talk) 03:30, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
Something like This (Bluebeetleinfoboxmockup.png) could work. The Role section (and perhaps all other sections, just in case) could have support for multiple tags (something similar to what's used on Smite Wiki, [2]), so that users can simply add as many tags as needed, separating them with a ",".
As for abilities, the idea would be to arrange them with the first set of abilities (which could be tagged A or something) on the top, and the second set (B) at the bottom, and if there is no second set of icons/abilities then they'd be displayed at the center (In Blue Beetle's case, he has different Q, W and E abilities for each stance, but his passive and ultimate are shared). It should be possible to do, no? I'm almost sure I've seen it done somewhere else, but I can't remember where.--Malvodion (talk) 04:03, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Everything seems to be working correctly. Only thing missing would be the Role section not supporting multiple tags, but we can live without that. Thanks a lot for your help!--Malvodion (talk) 15:24, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Do you mean we just need a second role if necessary? if so, that's very easy. (and done, there is now a role2 variable)— Game widow (talk) 15:26, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
Sorry for bothering you again but, I just noticed that "skill5a" and "skill5b" don't display the popup like the others do (the regular "skill5" still does though.). Link to make it a bit less tedious: Template:Infobox_Champion.--Malvodion (talk) 00:04, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
It's no bother, i'll check my logic :D — Game widow (talk) 00:39, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
I'm not 100% sure, but i think the parentheses in the skill names are the problem .. i'n in no shape right now to tackle it (wine!) but tomorrow, for sure — Game widow (talk) 01:01, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
Alrighty! i do believe i've managed to fix it — Game widow (talk) 16:17, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

Adminship request[edit source]

I wanted to ask you if it was possible to give me Admin rights on this wiki. There is only so much I can do as a regular user, and it'd also make my life and others' a bit easier. I have experencience from other wikis, I'm currently the (only active) admin of Gamepedia's "Smite" and "Prime World" wikis.--Malvodion (talk) 05:16, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Thank you, I will start working on the champion pages to add the values to the abilities (right now most only have a description of them). But first, I'll start renaming "The Flash" and his abilities/icons to just Flash, since that's how he is called ingame (only Joker has a "The" in the front and classified as his name starting with T).--Malvodion (talk) 18:31, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
I trust your judgement :) Now just please use your new superpowers for good ;) 01:17, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

About the Wiki's status[edit source]

Everything is going well. There hasn't been any updates since the latest character (Supergirl) was released, so there hasn't really been anything to change. We are still missing the items but that can wait, we need more activity for that (and the devs need to add a more practical way to check the item stats ingame, beyond joining a live match.). I added the free character rotation to the front but ended up removing it since I usually forgot to update it, I'll re-add it once there is more activity. I visit the site once a day to make sure everything is ok. MrLucho hasn't been around for a month or so, but don't worry I can maintain the wiki on my own (atleast with all this low activity vandals aren't an issue.).--Malvodion (talk) 01:55, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Well I'm just glad the wiki end is going alright. You're doing a great job! — Game widow (talk) 02:28, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

About the update[edit source]

Looks like the last update broke the wiki's theme a bit. I imagine this isn't the only case and that you've probably been ask this from others aswell but: Could you help us fix it up whenever you find the time for it? It's mostly some elements being unaligned and the new video preview size clipping outside their areas, most noticeable in lower resolutions.--Malvodion (talk) 19:02, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

No worries, this is next on my list :) — Game widow (talk) 21:32, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
I do have a BUNCH of wikis to check, so please let me know if anything else needs attention! — Game widow (talk) 22:09, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
I noticed (a while ago but my memory betrayed me time and time again) that the arrow that should appear next to the watchlist star is invisible, but you can still click where it should be to open the menu, like what happend with the sortable wikitables. Also the edit window's background is transparent (not sure if that was intended) while the Abuse filter log's is white (which makes it hard to read because the text is also white). Apart from that, everything seems to be working just fine.--Malvodion (talk) 17:37, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
I will definitely have a look and see what i can do about that — Game widow (talk) 19:51, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
I'm not getting much joy with the fiddling that i've done, so i've asked one of my teammates who is more adept at the css to help me out. You should see some results later today, or early tomorrow at the latest. — Game widow (talk) 13:51, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
OK, so you should be seeing the down arrow for the actions menu now, though i still have to work on placing the share menu arrow correctly .. so some progress :D — Game widow (talk) 23:04, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

Tabber, Artifacts & Infoboxes[edit source]

Hello. Could you enable tabber on this wiki? I was planning on adding tabs to the new Artifacts (IC's items) infobox so that we could show all the tiers of each artifact on the same page and infobox.

And speaking of that, this is the infobox I made (based on the Champions' one): Template:Infobox_Artifact (and an example: Abin_Sur's_Lantern). Is that good enough? Anything that could be changed/improved?--Malvodion (talk) 19:47, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

I can certainly enable tabber and your infobox looks great! We're making a bunch of changes at the moment, so there may be a slight delay for tabber, but the changes include a much improved search — Game widow (talk) 23:03, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
Tabber is now active :) — Game widow (talk) 23:15, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. Also, the wiki just got linked on the official subreddit of the game. With some luck there'll be a bit more activity. But for now, gotta complete the artifact pages.--Malvodion (talk) 23:46, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
Sorry for bothering you again but: I tried to customize tabber to better fit the wiki's theme (though I'm not really sure what I was doing), but it doesn't seem to have had any effect whatsover (it didn't even break anything) I based it off another of Gamepedia's wikis (so I assumed it'd work just fine, and I'd be able to tweak it as it needed to.). Could you help me out on this? I wanted to make it look like our tables do (though without the gradient, since the tabs are a bit small and might look weird. The brigher blue was going to be for the active tab while the darker tone was going to be used for the inactive ones.).--Malvodion (talk) 07:30, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
Oh, nevermind, looks like it's working now (weird, I had refreshed the site several times.).--Malvodion (talk) 09:18, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
I think i finally got the sort headers working (give or take some delays in the css caching). I've also added some extra sections to the mainpage (stuff the make the mobile view nicer) and made a mobile skin. — Game widow (talk) 16:22, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
Everything looks good on my end. And great, I got no actual mobiles to check how it looks on them but thanks for implementing that for them.--Malvodion (talk) 08:12, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

A bit of help on another wiki[edit source]

Hello, I wanted to ask you if you could lend me a bit of help on making something for another of curse's wikis: Smite wiki. I wanted to make an altered version of one of the infobox styles that wiki uses for an update I'm making for it's items section. The style aligns text to the right, but I need a slightly different version of it that alings them to the left. I tried to do it myself but it didn't seem to work, and Sigilbaram (who is the bureaucrat at that wiki) has ignored my pleas of help on several wikis (not just smite's) for a month.. which is why I'm typing this right now.--Malvodion (talk) 09:22, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi! sorry i didn't see this sooner, but i was having email woes :( I'd be happy to help, and if I can't, then i know the other Curse liaison who deals with that wiki (Sigilbaram) so between us, i'm sure we can work it out. — Game widow (talk) 22:46, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
Ok I really, Really don't like to bother people like this (which is mostly why I end up trying to do more than I trully can.) but once again Sigilbaram is nowhere to be found, no one else is really on the other (Smite's) wiki (or this one) and I for the first time I'm starting to get a little bit irritated by this. As I said on Sigilbaram's page, that other game is getting a huge update that changes a lot of things (and ofcourse I'll be the one who will be updating all the affected pages, like always.) but now the wiki's skin will also need to be updated (it already needed an update a good while ago, because I've had people complaining its hard to read things in it, plus it could really do with a bit more of "prettyfication".). The wiki is bound to get a lot of traffic from people trying to learn about all the changes, so doing all of this now would be the best course of actions. I have no knownledge about CSS whatsoever so I really can't do much on my own beyond in-page and template layout changes. I don't care if you, or him, or anyone else even someone who barely started working on wikis helps me out: I need someone to help me.--Malvodion (talk) 16:42, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
No worries, I am discussing Smite wiki with him now :) — Game widow (talk) 17:44, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
I'm so very sorry to be such a pain to everyone, but there are times I just don't know what to do, and on this occasion sitting idle was not an option for me.--Malvodion (talk) 19:56, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
You are not being a pain, at all! I'm thrilled to have an admin as committed and involved as you are — Game widow (talk) 21:38, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Question about the tooltip popups[edit source]

First of all, I should inform you that this game is going out of beta on March 26 (less than two weeks from now), and it will be released on Steam, so there should be a bit more traffic in here, which is why I've been working on updating, expanding and upgrading the site. But there are still some things I can't do.

I wanted to ask you if it'd be possible to implement a template for the Artifacts (and maybe also Stolen Powers) page that worked in a similar fashion to the ability buttons on the champion infoboxes, but that instead of showing the tooltips written in the game, it draws the information from other pages (in this case, from each artifact's infoboxes). Smite wiki does something similar to this for its character builds section, where you just write the name of the page and the template automatically picks up the image from the page, and the information for the mouse hover tooltip. I was hoping that you, or someone who knows how these things work, could lend me a hand with it. It'd certainly make the website a bit more functional and practical for users, because right now the artifacts page is just a bunch of image links.--Malvodion (talk) 05:06, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

Oh, and I forgot: Could it be possible to the same for the Stolen powers linked on the infoboxes? Ex.: Robin and his unique Surveillance Camera power.
Also I forgot to mention: I changed the front page because the previous buttons just didn't work well at all. I'm not entirelly happy with how they look but atleast its an improvement. If you got any better ideas for the front (not just for the character buttons), please do suggest/implement them.--Malvodion (talk) 05:10, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
It is possible, but it's not easy and would require some major changes, not to mention Sigilbaram's expertise. Basically, Smite wiki uses Semantic Mediawiki (SMW), rather than the "regular" Mediawiki we use here and that is his area, not mine. It is not impossible to switch from one to the other, but SMW does come with a host of problems in addition to the ability to leverage information across pages. I'll have a chat with him and find out what sort of timeline he could put to this change and get back to you with more facts. — Game widow (talk) 12:52, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
Ah, I see. Well, if its far more work than what its worth it then it can't be helped. The current layouts will have to do for now.
I'm not saying it isn't worth it, just that it won't be easy :) — Game widow (talk) 13:45, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
I know you didn't say that, I'm the one saying that. Doing such huge changes just for a small feature would be silly at best.--Malvodion (talk) 13:58, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
Oh, and before I forget: I'm thinking of changing some things on the table and infoboxes' skins (mostly the colors) to make them match the current color scheme (They use a darker blue now, but still.), so I might need to call for your help if I accidentally break anything, but everything should be fine for now. I'm not changing anything else from the wiki's skin, the current look works well enough.--Malvodion (talk) 13:38, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
I am always at your disposal for that sort of thing. No worries :) — Game widow (talk) 13:45, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

Skills[edit source]

I just need to ask about something: The Skills page. I have no idea what to do with this thing. I'm not sure if its worth maintaining anymore (I haven't been able to update it since the devs have been a bit slow with updating their own website, where I got most of those.), and I don't see it being of any use to anyone, because if you want info about a skill you just go to the character's page. Since you are the one who made it, what do you think I should do?

If the page is not useful, then that's fine, I only originally created it when there was little or no content on the site. It could be replaced with a redirection to the skills category. — Game widow (talk) 13:45, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
Hmmm ... I just had a look at the category and the entire content is redirections to that one page. So i guess the question is, do you think people would search for any given skill ? if so, then it's some extra work, but all those redirection should be changed to point to the specific hero page skills section. I'm inclined to make things more searchable, rather than less, so i'd opt for that, but you know the game best. What do you think? i'll of course help you. i might even be able to just use a bot to make all those changes — Game widow (talk) 13:49, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
Maybe. Though the infoboxes would also need to be changed so that the character pages don't link to themselves.--Malvodion (talk) 13:58, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
I've adjusted the infobox to not create a link under the Skills section for each Champion, and i've swept all the skill redirections to point to the skills section on the specific champion's page. I've also put all the passive skill pages (redirects) into an additonal category called Category:Passive skills, which files under Category:Skills. For the active skills, should the E, Q, R, and W types be separated and is there a better name for each than that one letter ? Also, I was thinking that for total newbies to the game, perhaps what the skills page should do is explain how skills in general are used and what active vs. passive means, etc. Thoughts ? — Game widow (talk) 16:03, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
Nah, that'd be a little too much. Maybe the ultimate abilities could have something (the devs recently changed how they work, and no longer cost mana anymore, so they are even more special, and dangerous now.), but its not "Necessary". I'll see what I can come up with.--Malvodion (talk) 05:02, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

About the champion infobox template[edit source]

Everything seems to be working as it should be, though I got one suggestion (that I tried to implement just now but I was afraid I'd mess something up): Instead of adding a fixed space for the skill names (which forces a couple of long ones to take two and even three lines, while making those that have short names to waste a lot of space, specially on lower resolutions.), we could simply separate the description from it, pushing it one line below it. Maybe also make the names with a bigger font size (110% maybe?), and bold (as if it was a header). Not only would it solve the issue, and it'd also open up a bit more of space for the descriptions.--Malvodion (talk) 15:42, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

Sure — Game widow (talk) 16:04, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
Done, and i also removed the edit function from the sections that are auto-filled by the template. Having the actual template open when a user clicked edit in either skills or description was a silly oversight on my part. — Game widow (talk) 16:14, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
